CROSQ ELECTS NEW CHAIRMAN AND VICE CHAIRMAN
Bridgetown, BARBADOS
The CARICOM Regional Organisation for Standards and Quality (CROSQ) has, at its Twenty-Third Meeting of the Council and Eighth Annual General Meeting held in Barbados 18 – 20 November 2013 elected a new Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Council to serve for the period 2013 – 2015.
The newly elected Chairman of the Council is Barbados represented by Mrs. Anthea Ishmael – Director (Ag) of the Barbados National Standards Institution. Mrs. Ishmael has been the Barbados representative on the Council since 2006 and chaired the CROSQ Human Resource Committee for two successive terms, 2009-2011 and 2011-2013. She replaces Mr. Ezra D. Ledger of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Bureau of Standards who did not seek re-election.
The newly elected Vice Chairman of the Council is Belize represented by Mr. Jose Trejo – Director of the Belize Bureau of Standards. Mr. Trejo has represented Belize on the Council since 2008 and chaired the Finance Committee for two successive terms, 2009-2011 and 2011-2013.
The Council of the CROSQ, which comprises the Executive heads of the National Standards bodies of the State Parties, establishes the CROSQ policy and sets the work programme in respect of the technical and development work for the region. The work of the Council is supported by a Secretariat headed by a Chief Executive Officer. The CROSQ Secretariat supports the Council in the coordination of the development of a Regional Quality Infrastructure and promoting a quality culture within CARICOM.
The CROSQ Secretariat is located at Baobab Towers, Warrens, St. Michael.
